About me and my blog

you are right."

You must be the change you want to see in the world.

“If you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.”

I've been deep into the abyss, for many years I lived in it. Be careful how long you gaze, it may pull you in and swallow you whole. Escaping is no easy task.

So I am trying to rework my blog and make it a little easier to follow. I hope to get some new readers. So, I'm going to tell you all a few things about me, my life and my goals.

First and foremost I am on a mission to change my life. That is now the primary focus of this blog. Notes, comments and information on how I am changing my life. How it's working, what I'm doing and what does and does not work.

Apparently this could use a little update. I'm now 41 (it's been 4 years already?), 449 pounds and suffering from significantly fewer issues.
Why you may ask? I'm 37 years old, I weigh 540 pounds, suffer from chronic pain, arthritis, bad knees, lower back issues, circulation problems in my lower legs and feet, depression, anxiety, panic, fatigue, high blood pressure and other problems I'm sure I've forgotten. Most of my health issues are directly related to my weight.

I will not live like this any more. I can not do the things I want to do. I can't play with my kids, go for walks, fit in many places I would like to fit. I generally don't go out because I have to worry about either not being able to fit in the the seating or destroying it if I do. The poor health makes the depression worse. I have contemplated suicide many times. I must do something.

Because of my health issues I don't work. I rarely leave the house. I have no social life. My quality of life frankly sucks. I have severe difficulty playing with my kids. I can't find clothes that fit. I could go on and on. If you read other places in my blog I've talked about my feelings and what it's like to live like this. I simply will not do it any more. I refuse.

I find much useful information on the net. I also find a lot of what I consider to be utter and complete crap.  I try and weed through the crap. Now, I'm using my own personal judgment and opinion. This is my blog, I can do that. I plagiarize openly and often. When I do, I provide numerous links to the original articles for you all to follow and form your own opinions. Well, that and to not get sued for copyright infringement or something.

So here you will find my adventures in achieving personal health. Mental health, spiritual health and health of body. Also, you will find information I found useful in my own life. I strongly encourage you to comment, to critique, to offer your thoughts and suggestions. I hope that through helping myself I can also help others that are in the same position.

Here's to the adventure that is life. Mine is starting new.

"Why bother? Because once your health fails - nothing else matters, does it? Why not do what it takes to get healthy, make it a habit and build your life on a healthy foundation. You only get one body: take care of it!" Now that is a true statement.

If you don't have a destination you may end up somewhere else. A plan of your ideal lifestyle is a place you can "land" and be happy.
 "The best six doctors anywhere

And no one can deny it
Are sunshine, water, rest,
and air, exercise and diet.
These six will gladly you attend
If only you are willing
Your mind they'll ease
Your will they'll mend
And charge you not a shilling."
Nursery rhyme quoted by Wayne Fields
An idealist believes
the short run doesn't count.
A cynic believes the long run doesn't matter.
A realist believes that what is done or left undone in the short run determines the long run."
Sydney Harris
"Ability is what
you're capable of doing. Motivation determines what
you do.
Attitude determines how well you do it."
Lou Holtz

"Our limitations and success will be based, most often, on your own expectations for ourselves. What the mind dwells upon, the body acts upon."
Denis Waitley

"Mind is the master power that molds and makes.

And man/woman is mind, and evermore she takes the tool of thought,
and, shaping what she will, Brings forth a thousand joys, a thousand ills;

She thinks in secret, and it comes to pass:
Environment is but her looking glass."
James Allen
