Healthy cooking

OK, so one of my biggest problems with changing the way I eat is, I hate healthy food. I like meat and potatoes and pasta and bread. Wanna make me happy? Biscuits and gravy. Bloody rare steak. That's what I like to eat. So, I've been looking at different recipes, different ideas for making things I like, only healthier.

Made chicken fingers tonight. Used egg whites and cottage cheese to dampen them and then dredged them in instant potatoes, salt, pepper, and a touch of powdered ranch mix. Crossed my fingers and........ Yum!

I wanted quiche the other day, but didn't want the crust. So, I tried making it without the crust. Eggs, peppers, garlic, spinach and a cheese topping. Came out delicious.

I know I will never be a vegetarian or anything, but I also know I have to change my eating habits. So, the search begins. How to make the food I like, but a healthy version. Oh, and portion control, that's my other huge issue. Working on that too.

Doing the work

Trying to change life long eating habits is a real bitch! Trying to eat less more often, trying to cut out all the crap I'm usually eating. Trying to figure out healthier, more filling meals. It's hard. I've started to become much more aware of what I'm eating, how much I'm eating and how fast I'm eating it.

On a side note, I just finished my application for the biggest loser and will be mailing that later today. The money would be nice, but the help would be even nicer. Money's nice to have but your health is priceless.

So, anyway. It's a struggle. Staying away from the fast food and the junk food. I had cravings today, so instead of eating junk, I had carrots and pickles. Not to bad. Followed that with a chocolate protein shake, that really helped with the sweat craving. And it's yummy and filling too.

My next step is to figure how to start getting exercise. That's gonna be a hard one.
