getting better

So how many times have I talked about eating better and healthier?

Take your vitamins. Vitamin C in particular is important in helping to burn fat.

-Take some time in the sun. Light increases serotonin, which helps us to feel more awake and energized.

-Take move-around breaks at work. Walk, stretch, get up out of your chair and step away from the computer every once in awhile!

-Keep nuts handy for a protein packed snack which will stave off hunger and keep your energy up until mealtime.

-Laugh! Laughter is a great energizer and stress-reducer.

-When driving, listen to upbeat music or an audio book. Stay away from news and hard-hitting talk shows which can stress you out.

-Get a good night's sleep. Without adequate sleep, you'll feel tired the next day, and will be less likely to exercise or be active.

I'm changing things, slowly. But I've found that slow change is more likely to be permanent change. It takes time to create habits, it takes time to change those habits and it takes time to create new, healthy habit. After all, it was the tortoise that won the race.

I am already noticing a significant difference in things. My mood is more consistent, as is my energy level. I'm not crashing as often or dealing with a lowered mood. It's nice. I was convinced that lowering my coffee consumption would have a negative impact but I"m finding the complete opposite to be true. Not only is my mood and energy improved, I am experiencing fewer headaches. I'm also not as hungry.

And that's a huge thing for me.

Some of the change I believe can be attributed to taking Abilify now. One medication that I can say works as advertised. The difference in everything once I started taking it was/is amazing. Between the changes in lifestyle and the meds things are looking up.
